that was really helpful. Much apprectiated. Having said that I will
definitely think of taking the GCFW as an on demand class.
After quite a lot of scouting SANS training and certifications are
still at the top of my list. I'm preparing the CISSP as well for which
I took the class but to be honest I've found that this certification
today is pretty much a piece of paper and the training does not worth
a penny of the money spent on it.
Looking around it seems that CISSP - which is not a technical cert but
then it's requested as part of a security engineer portfolio - can
sustain an ITSEC carrer more than a deep and valid
training/certification such as all the good one from SANS.
Maybe it's a matter of attitude but my vote still goes for the knowledge.

The benifit at home is that you can take your time. They also have "virtual
mentors" so if you do have issues, you can get a response, but it is likely
to take a little more time then if the person is in the same room.
