I would simply follow any security principles relating to other remote access (VPN/Dial in/Etc), my company currently uses Orange 3G cards for mobile access combined with 2 factor authentication and local based firewalls. I couldnt find many white papers relating specifically to Wireless 3G access at the time so just used common sense and good security practices.
