LOL ... I wish I could get my management TO switch to DHCP. We have about 
2000-2500 client machines at an educational institution. Yes, we have a 
database (actually, on a spreadsheet -- a DB might work better), but it is 
constantly out of date. In addition, users may make changes on their own 
complicating things. And when we opened a new campus with two new technology 
buildings, four of us spent the better part of three days simply configuring 
the workstations -- remember, you have to configure IP, SN, GW, DNS, etc.

If you really want to be secure, you can do a static MAC-to-IP association with 
DHCP assignment. This is similar to the old RARP which gave rise to DHCP.
