Sorry, I meant burn in the figurative sense! The tape is damaged-can't write to it but I can read from it. -----Original Message----- From: Aditya Deshmukh <aditya.deshmukh@online.gateway.strangled.net> Date: Thu, 24 Nov 2005 08:31:44 To:"'Murad Talukdar'" <talukdar_m@subway.com>, security-basics@securityfocus.com Subject: RE: secure disposal of backup tapes
Hi I wanted to get some ideas from everyone for secure disposal of DDS/TRAVAN/DLT backup tapes.
Using a hammer on them then cutting the tapes up with sissors.... What is the security level of data that was on them ? Maybe just a plain write with multiple patterns and putting them up on eBay might be enough
How do you burn yours?
Please do *not* burn them they might be toxic ________________________________________________________________________ Delivered using the Free Personal Edition of Mailtraq (www.mailtraq.com) Kind Regards Murad Talukdar Senior Computer Operator Subway Systems Australia **DISCLAIMER** The information contained in this e-mail and attachments, if any, is confidential and may be subject to legal privilege.
