And by that same token, the University degree will probably not be
enough.  Two generations ago, one only needed a high school diploma to
start a career.  One generation ago, it was a bachelor's degree.  Now,
advanced degrees are becoming more desirable, especially if you want to
move up the ranks.

Continuing education is a must.  A University degree can give you a
solid base to build from, but I wouldn't ignore certifications,
additional degrees or hands-on experience.

Twenty years from now, no one will know what a CISSP is. But twenty 
years from now, you could still have a university degree. 'nuff said.
