Hi peolple
Do you know how to do a Linux (clear) shutdown without root privileges from login screen?
I want to give a user the privilege of shutdown the server without being root. I have heared about umount problems of the file system.

You can grant a right to the group to shutdown the machine with sudo(8). Let's say that shutdowners group has that right.

You can add shutdowners group's priveleges to user depending on if he logins from console with pam_group module (http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/libs/pam/Linux-PAM-html/pam -6.html#ss6.8).
