Paul,
Depending on which org you're going to work for, security clearances
differ. RCMP, for example, does their own security clearance, whereas
PWGSC, TBS, CSE, etc, all have their clearances initated by CSIS, but
held (usually) by PWGSC (or the sponsoring dept/agency).

Enhanced to Secret go back approx 5 years, whereas Top Secret goes
back 10 years.
Given a reasonable amount of time. That being said, if someone is
applying for a Top Secret clearance and is only 21, they're not going
to go back all the way until you're 11. What actually happens is that
they'll not onlyinterview neighbours and references, but get names
from those and will contact others...the unsuspecting acquantences
you've met along the ways.

Just to get an idea of your personality.

Good day Paul,

I had a Top Secret clearance for 20 years as a defense employee.

The initial background check went as far as talking to my secondary school
teachers, the priest in my village, the neighbor, and the list goes on. So
they do go quite far back.

On renewal I do know for sure that they did talk to people in my
neighborhood to see if I was a good guy or not. What else they investigated
I do not know for sure.

Take care

Hello Marcus, you may want to think of CSE and PSEPC as well. Though bear in
mind these agencies will post on the www.jobs.gc.ca website when they have
openings.
Also CSE has an portal on their website where you can apply, and they are
also presently looking for people.

HTH,

Don

Folks,

I'm looking to take my career to the federal
government. I am aware of the regular
agencies..CSIS/RCMP.. but I seek the additional ones I am not aware of
in which I can place a probe for employment.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Regards,
Marcus
