Debian Etch with openssh-server 4.3p2-9, running Gforge 4.5.14-22, libpam-pgsql 0.5.2-9+b1, libpam-runtime 0.79-4 There are some system users (in /etc/passwd), and some users are defined in PostgreSQL/PAM. I can remote login to the system users just fine. However, when I try to login as any user defined in PostgreSQL, sshd logs me in using the password, prints MOTD, but never gives a shell prompt. The last few lines of sshd debug are (sorry, it'll wrap): Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7863]: debug1: server_input_channel_req: channel 0 request shell reply 0 Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7863]: debug1: session_by_channel: session 0 channel 0 Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7863]: debug1: session_input_channel_req: session 0 req shell Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7863]: debug1: PAM: setting PAM_TTY to "/dev/pts/2" Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7868]: debug1: Setting controlling tty using TIOCSCTTY. Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7863]: debug2: fd 3 setting TCP_NODELAY Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7868]: debug3: Normalising mapped IPv4 in IPv6 address Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7863]: debug2: channel 0: rfd 9 isatty Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7868]: debug3: Copy environment: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7863]: debug2: fd 9 setting O_NONBLOCK Apr 8 16:37:19 code sshd[7868]: debug3: channel 0: close_fds r -1 w -1 e -1 c -1 Apr 8 16:37:20 code sshd[7863]: debug3: fd 8 is O_NONBLOCK Apr 8 16:37:20 code sshd[7868]: debug3: channel 1: close_fds r 7 w 7 e -1 c -1 Seen a number of references to this on the 'net, but none that solved this issue. The same problem occurs if I try to ssh localhost too.
