Paul: This may sound like the obvious question, but when you connect to your target are you throwing the -X option? If Xforwarding is enabled in the sshd_config on the target, and you connect such as: $ ssh -X -l user ip.of.target.systemq xlogo Should pop up the xlogo (may have to use full path to xlogo, like /usr/openwin/bin/xlogo maybe.
