someone done it and made it public with an API.
My Suggestion is to use kde's kio framework. (http://kde.org) Which provides an excellent standard api and includes sftp kio slave. You should also look at http://winscp.sf.net Which is a GPL'd windows client which will probably have some code you can use. Kind regards JoelW
