Solved: Password authentication fails: SSH secure shell to openssh serve

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I fixed the problem by setting
"password authentication yes" on the openssh server and restarting the daemon with "sshd -s 1 <process number>".


I will investigate the other soluntions. Thanks especially for the information on converting the public key to open ssh format.
