Start an sshd in debug mode in another port, connect to it, and logout. If it
doesn't describe the error, increase debug verboseness :
-ed -> -edd -> -eddd

Hello secureshell,

  everytime somebody exits my box I get to the auth.log line:

Oct 16 19:39:19 daemon sshd[19204]: syslogin_perform_logout: logout()
returned an error

  even there is clean logout/exit.

  My wtmp/utmp/lastlog files are (I hope) OK. I tried to remove them
  and then touched them again and the messeges keeps add up.

  from FreeBSD-current mailing list didn't answer anybody, so I
  suggest it isn't FreeBSD issue.

  thank you for your answer.
