openssh v1 (protocol 1 ) deprecated /official statement anywhere?

Subject: openssh v1 (protocol 1 ) deprecated /official statement anywhere?

Hi!

Well, I have currently some discussion running, whether ssh protocol 2
has advantages over ssh protocol 1, respectively if there is the issue
that it goes beyond the thing "Well, everyone tells to use ssh v2, but,
you see, v1 still works".

On ssh.com there was a mission statement in November 2001, that ssh v1
based products are to be considered deprecated due to security reasons
and advantages of protocol 2.

http://www.ssh.com/company/newsroom/article/210/

Ist there also such a statement available for openssh /from the openssh
team?

TIA
Olaf
