After rave reviews on PaulDotCom I've started playing with Maltego but the Yahoo API key is usually exhausted so I've tried to sign up for my own. I signed up for a yahoo developer key from here http://developer.yahoo.com/wsregapp/ which gave me a url specific key, is that the right one?
I've just spoken with Roelof, the developer of Maltego, about this and the answer is that we are stuck with their api key. The key is tied to the application using it and as the transforms are being ran from the application on the transform server they can only use their own key. They did consider running the yahoo transforms from the client machine but, for reasons he didn't go into, that was rejected. So, if you really need to get results, work out when the key stats are reset and make sure you do your searching as soon after that as possible.
