There are a handful of personnel with CISSP in my org that do not have B.S.
They tend to BS, but they don't have a B.S. :-)

I would look elsewhere for the refresher.

Research Shon Harris (isc^2). Most of the personnel where I work,
studied with Shon. They all passed the first time. It may be worth a
look see.

Disturbing that a BS degree is required.  I know a lot of bright people without 
degrees.  Mostly due to lack of challenge, rode the 90's tech boom, etc.
