I saw the creator of thread was bashing SMAC from earlier comments, then this turns to a great certification discussion... Interesting... As the creator of SMAC and an active CISSP, I would like to respond to this thread. First: I think it's great that ISC2 is now verifying experience before giving out the cert. When I got my CISSP back then, there is no verification enforcement. Last thing we want is to have people running around showing CISSP cert and screw up any security in any IT environment. It's bad enough out there. Therefore, I believe CISSP with experience is valuable, and I certainly would hire these people :) Second: As the creator of SMAC (http://www.klcconsulting.net/smac), I just want to clear SMAC's name. SMAC has been out since 2002 and it has been used by many large to small organizations, utility to finance industries, as well as US and foreign government agencies. We at KLC Consulting are commited to create security tools that can benefit networking and security communities. KLC Consulting, Inc. is an active Information Security Consulting firm. We apply lessons learned from consulting gigs, consultants' and users' feedback, and observed industry needs to our products to make our security tools the leaders in their categories. KLC Consulting, Inc. has also given many free SMAC licenses to information security trainers and authors. We do this in support of KLC's initiatives on amplifying Information Security Education. SMAC is not a free product because of KLC's investments in developing more security products than just SMAC product lines. However, we have made the price of SMAC Standard Edition low so it can reach to wide audiences. It has been successful for us. SMAC is developed by KLC developers and consultants with CISSP, CISA, MCSE certifications so we are confident to provide trustworthy, reliable and useful tools to wide range of audiences. Here are SMAC products available for free trial download: SMAC 2.0 Standard Edition SMAC 2.0 Professional Edition http://www.klcconsulting.net/smac SMAC-CL - Scriptable Command-line MAC Address Changer http://www.klcconsulting.net/smac-cl We welcome your feedback!
