As it is with many Cisco management products I would not put this box on
the same network as user/standard network traffic or a DMZ.
Keep it on the network/security management VLAN then strictly control
and watch the traffic.
If I recall correctly, many of their management software products have
to reside on systems at a certain patch level, and no higher. So, while
the application may be OK from a vulnerability standpoint, the OS it is
running on is incredibly out of date because patching it would adversely
effect your support contract i.e. "Uninstall your patches, then call us
back. We only support this product running on Windows 2000 SP2."

Sorry I couldn't respond earlier, but I was actually working with
Cisco on a CS-MARS issue.
The CS-MARS box is a modified version of RedHat, an old 2.4 kernel,
and JBoss 3.2.7 application server. Some measures are taken to secure
the underlying OS, like a firewall, etc.
