Try SMC's model SMC2532W-B.  They are 802.11b only,  but are 'high
power' (200mw)  and are the card-of-choice for AirPwn (a linux-based
Wifi injector system).

Cisco Aeronet cards also can have an external connector, and are
generally well supported.
