I agree if you aren't so deep into patch management to need full solution. Just setup WUS/SUS and let it run. It is free, easy to use but doesn't have all the added features of full PM Solutions. Here is a very good patch management listserv if you want to watch it. patchmanagement@listserv.patchmanagement.org -----Original Message----- From: Bénoni MARTIN [mailto:Benoni.MARTIN@libertis.ga] Sent: Monday, August 23, 2004 10:39 AM To: Juan B; pen-test@securityfocus.com Subject: RE: worksations automatic updates I have been using SUS from Microsoft, and it can di this for you: you can select to update the monitored machines when you wish to, or gives a little pop up when some updates are available for download. You can also download the updates when they are available and pop-up a "Updates are available, do you want to install then now or later". If I were you, I would of cource fore the updates nightly and everyday, to ensure they are installed :) -----Message d'origine----- De : Juan B [mailto:juanbabi@yahoo.com] Envoyé : vendredi 20 août 2004 20:16 À : pen-test@securityfocus.com Objet : worksations automatic updates I have a solotion fot my It manager about updating the pc's in the company. He says that he doesnt have much time left to update them. We can do like this: There is a possibility to configure each workstation to download and install the updates in another time. We can schedule 5 pc's in the company (including my pc). To download the updates and install them on Sunday (for example).and schedule all the other pc's to download and install the patches after 4 days. If we see that the updates are doing something bad to the machines we have 4 days to stop the updates from being deployed to the rest of the company. I think we can do it throw GPO. What do u think about this solution ? thanks __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Address AutoComplete - You start.
