just checking: have you tried connecting to 127.0.0.1 using nessus client
and not the internet browser ?

Tried browsing to 127.0.0.1 when asked for username/password tried the
username/password for the Nessus user I setup. That didn't work. Tried the
username/password for my workstation. That allowed me to get to
http:\\127.0.0.1\localstart.asp

I then changed the username and password for the workstation and tried to
connect again.

Still get the same message.

By the way I did check to see if my firewall was on, but it is turned off.
I turned off my Spyware checking / virus checking software.

I can see that nessusd.exe is running in my Windows Task Manager /
Processes tab.

What else can I check?

Tony

Just installed 3.2

nessusd.exe is running

Setup a user through "User Management"

Started the Nessus Client
Clicked "Connect"
Selected "localhost"
Clicked Edit.
Changed the login and password to the user I created earlier.
Clicked Save.

Then, Clicked "Connect"

I then received the following in a message box:
Received message "Bad credentials"
"It was not possible to log in using the supplied credentials."

What could be wrong?

Several things ...

- the user/pass you entered isn't what you are typing.
- there is a firewall
- 127.0.0.1 isn't routable/reachable
- if your system is still booting up, nessusd might not be listening yet
