I reported this to Parallels tech support. They suggested running the
Windows version of Nessus!

Yes, this is definitely a bug in parallels desktop, there's nothing we
can do on our side
to prevent it.
[BTW, in terms of stability, I've had a much much better experience
with VMware fusion :]
