| Subject: | Newer Credentialess Plugins? |

Greetings, Here at UCDavis we have a Nessus box (with one plugin feed) that we use to scan the majority of our campus networks once a day. We tend to favor using a credentialess Windows OS plugin so that we can reach the maximum number of clients (since most of our clients are Windows) and determine whether they're vulnerable to something recent or haven't patched in awhile. Of course, most plugins require authentication in order to read enumerated registry entries, etc. Unfortunately in our environment, we're not able to obtain authentication credentials to the majority of the campus systems (we're a central organization, they're out in departments and/or are flying solo). We've been using an older plugin that detects MS06-040 for several months now, but would like to use something more recent. Unfortunately, our eyes and ears that usually pay attention to the plugin feed announcements has been lacking and we were hoping you might have some suggestions as to a new plugin to use for these campus-wide, once a day scans to pick up something more relevant. Sincerely, John Harris UCDavis Data Center & Client Services _______________________________________________ Nessus mailing list Nessus@list.nessus.org http://mail.nessus.org/mailman/listinfo/nessus
