I'm not trying to nit-pick - most of what Hubert has written is fine.

b) If the Linux GTK client does generate a scan settings file, are the
files of the windows and linux clients interchangeable?
Not sure about the latest Windows client, they probably are.

I'm not actually clear which Windows GUI client the original poster was
talking about:

NessusWX supports exporting of sessions, and the result should work with
the unix commandline client or NessusClient v1.x. The export does,
though, lack info about certificates and server host / ip info.

The GUI included with Nessus for Windows also uses a mostly compatible
format, although it too lacks info about certificates and the server
host / ip. You will probably need to remove the 'FAMILY_SET' block,
though, also.

The NessusClient 3.0.0 beta does not currently support the .nessusrc
configfile format, although I believe it's a feature request.

d) There is no mention of whether a batch job on windows-client
machine can also accept command line parameters in a similar fashion -
Is there a command line interface for the windows client?
I don't believe so.

Nessus for Windows supports a minimal commandline interface ("nessuscmd
-h" for info).

The other two Windows clients do not.
