Hi all,

This is the first time iam using nessus. I installed the
latest Nessus-3.1.3-suse10.0.i586.rpm on opensuse. I got the server up
and running. Then i installed the NessusClient also on the same system.
I first tried to run it using cmd line client. I got an error

*** The plugins that have the ability to crash remote services or hosts
have been disabled. You should activate them if you want your security
audit to be complete

I solved it by using ./update-nessusrc -c "attack,infos,mixed,scanner,settings,denial,destructive_attack,kill_ho st" ./policy.txt

I ran my client using /opt/nessus/bin/nessus -c ./policy.txt 127.0.0.1 1241 nessus nessus123 ./ipv6.txt ./output.txt

where ipv6.txt contains fe80::215:58ff:fe7e:c037%eth0

I followed the steps followed as given in http:// blog.tenablesecurity.com/2007/04/nessus_32_beta_.html

My aim is to test on ipv6. This does not seem to work, the client seem to return and in the output.txt i find nothing.
Please tell me what is wrong. I even tried with simple ipv4 scan address 127.0.0.1, still i dont get any result.
Iam attaching my policy.txt with the mail. Please help.

Could you check what is said in /opt/nessus/var/nessus/logs/ nessusd.messages and show it to us ?
(also, make sure that IPv6 is enabled on your nessusd host -- can you 'ping6' the remote IP ?)

Thanks,
