Installed Nessus-3.0.5-debian3_i386.deb without problems on ubuntu 6.10, and it worked fine. Did need to install a missing requirement : recall it was libssl0.9.7 , next to libssl0.9.8.

Nessus runs.
I did find that the machine turned very slow when running a nessus scan on 100+ hosts, (settings: 14 hosts x 6 tests = 84 active tests) running into 100% CPU usage, and responding poor to mouse input. Which surprised me since I run this on a 1.4PentiumM, with 1GB.

In nessusd.conf, set "be_nice" to "yes" and try again.
