Hi all,

I have my Nessus Console (Nessus Console for Windows
NT/2000/XP Version 1.4.5) installed on Win 2000
Server. Recently, I have developed some Nessus plugins
that use SMB libraries for Windows file and registry
checking. The plugins work fine with 2000/XP targets,
but they fail to extract file information from Vista
targets (although they can connect to it on port
139/TCP). Does anyone have any idea if there must be a
special setting or configuration to make the plugins
work against Vista?

Hi Nima,

Without looking at your code, it's hard to say what the problem could
be. Things to think about:

Do your other credentialed Nessus checks work against your Vista system?

Which SMB libraries are you using?

Is your Vista system part of a domain? Maybe the security policy is too
tight too allow remote access.

What sort of errors or logging do you see in your event log? If you are
attempting to access a certain type of file, maybe you can enable
auditing for the file and see what shows up in the event log.
