Take a look at Inprotect and the associated mailing list. They've done the work of storing results in MySQL, handling different profiles, generating reports, and automating scans. Good jumping point for customization and automation. If your good with Perl and\or PHP, consider contributing as well. The head developer seems to be in the process of verifying available developers for the next round of features, so now's a good time to submit feedback.
