KB saving helps reduce the work when launching repeated scans, not "resuming" scans. If a scan didn't finish, you probably want to disable the kb-related options (except save_knowledge_base) unless you're ok with an incomplete report.

It's got a lot of useful info, even if it is somewhat dated at this point. [Btw, I'm one of the authors but I don't get any royalties.]
