 I don't rely on Nessus for MS patches (though I do let it scan for them).  
Instead I use MBSA to scan all of my MS servers using the WSUS server we have 
in house.  You can script MBSA fairly easily to accomplish this.  This also 
rules out alarms on patches that haven't been approved.

I am having an issue with Nessus not finding re released MSFT patches, such
as MS06- 040, where as shavlik does.  It finds the other missing patches
fine.

How are the MSFT plugins generated and is there a provision to cover
re- releases that have a different file version ?
