also make sure your admins have enabled reverse lookup :) When I was first setting up nessus I couldn't get any names against my ips. I found out that we hadn't set up reverse lookups because we were a 99.9%windows environment and we were letting wins do the work. not anymore :)

Nessus can report by IP address, hostname, or MAC address (for hosts on your local subnet). If you are specifying IP addresses as your targets but want hostnames, make sure you check "Do a reverse lookup on the IP before testing it" in the unix GUI under "General scan options" or enable reverse_lookup in the client; if instead, you want MAC addresses, then make sure "Designate hosts by their MAC address" is checked, also under "General scan options".
As for Netbios names, no, I don't think so, but you report them with plugin #10150, netbios_name_get.nasl.
