I have had similar issues with nessus's port scanner and nmap. Nmap will
find ports open on our vpn device - nessus won't, never didmanage to get it
to see these ports open in the end.

Subject: Nessus misses open ports that nmap finds

Hello,

I am running nessus 3.0.2 and nmap 4.03.

I scanned 10 hosts with both nessus and nmap.

Nmap identified 2 holes (HTTP and HTTPS) that Nessus "missed" on 1 of the
hosts. Several of the other 9 hosts were running these same services and the
holes WERE identified by both Nessus and Nmap.

Is there some "throttling" or "timing" issue occuring here?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks
