Scanning Novell Servers causes abended

Subject: Scanning Novell Servers causes abended
Date: Thu, 28 Sep 2006 15:25:54 -0500
Yesterday I used Nessus version 2.5.8 on Linux Fedora Core 5 to scan 23
Novell servers running NetWare 6 SP5. Of the 23 servers 11 abended and
had to be rebooted. I am using NessusWX for an interface to the server
and used the defaults for the scan, except that I dropped the number of
host scanned to 10. One of the 11 servers had an app crash and the
entire server stopped responding.

Is this pretty common for Novell servers, or did I just hit an unlucky
combination and blow things up?

Thank you,

Jeff Sorrells, CISSP
