Essentially, you need to disable the different ping types; ie,

  Ping the remote host[checkbox]:Do a ARP ping = no
  Ping the remote host[checkbox]:Do a TCP ping = no
  Ping the remote host[checkbox]:Do an ICMP ping = no
  Ping the remote host[checkbox]:Do an applicative UDP ping (DNS,RPC...)
= no

These will prevent ping_host.nasl from marking the host as dead if pings
would otherwise fail.
