I have a similar issue . Nessus is not able to detect tcp port 443
open on a Nokia firewall.
Although I can connect it to through browser or when I do a telnet
on that destination IP using port 443.

I am using command line nessus 3.0.2( Fedora Core 4) .
Generated .nessusrc file by exporting the configuration from Nessus
windows client .
- I have disabled ping the host option
- Default is chosen for port range
-In port scanners only Nessus TCP scanner is enabled.

- Do you get the same kind of results with the SYN scanner ?
I did not try SYN scanner . I cannot do it now as the port is closed on the
firewall.
- Is it the only host you are scanning ?
There were multiple hosts scanned and I did get responses from mail servers etc.
- Is there anything in nessusd.dump ?
nessud.dump does not show any errors.
