How is it found that a port is open ?

Subject: How is it found that a port is open ?
Date: Tue, 31 Jan 2006 19:16:15 +0530

Hi,

When I run the scan on my server, some ports are identified as open.
I would like to know which plugin identifies all the open ports .
The description in the report is as follows : "Port is open"

Also, I would like to have a look at the source code of Nessus TCP scanner
Plugin id - 10335
and the Syn scanner Plugin-id : 11219. However, if that is not possible
for some reason, can I know the logic that is deployed
by the plugin ?

Regards,
Monali
