Simple Nessus Scanner and Reporting Web Interface (simpleness)

Subject: Simple Nessus Scanner and Reporting Web Interface (simpleness)
Date: Tue, 31 Jan 2006 12:28:59 -0600
I've created a small/simple frontend to Nessus to allow other users, such as
Server Operators to run Nessus scans against their servers. It allows them
to perform the scans, but I have the control of what plugins are scanned.
It also helps with quarterly audits to allow them to scan on their terms,
but meet my quarterly requirements. And I know when they're running scans
by having the program send me an alert when they initiate scans.

It also provides a simple reporting structure on the main page for upper
management and shows the progress from quarter to quarter.

I created this to meet my needs, but from all the requests that appear on
the list from time to time, I thought I'd share what I have. I started out
using Inprotect, but it couldn't really meet all of my needs and seemed to
complicated, especially for the audience I was targeting. I mentioned this
late last year, but have finally completed the documentation and made it
generic enough to post.

You can check it out here: http://tech.stlsawall.com/docs/nessus/.

Hopefully I can help someone. I am not a PHP expert by any means, but it
seems to function well. I've had it in use at my company for over 7 months
without any problems at all.

Chris
