openssl and openssl-devel are installed and I created soft links in

Which platform are you using exactly ? What is the exact version of
the openssl RPM which is on your system ?

I'm having the exact same errors.
Here is my info.

[root@mbakeman Desktop]# rpm -q openssl
openssl-0.9.7g-2.1.20060mdk

[root@mbakeman Desktop]# rpm -q libopenssl0.9.7-devel
libopenssl0.9.7-devel-0.9.7g-2.1.20060mdk

[root@mbakeman Desktop]# uname -a
Linux mbakeman 2.6.12-12mdk #1 Fri Sep 9 18:15:22 CEST 2005
i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) unknown GNU/Linux
