I got precisely the same error on precisely the same operating system. I
was about to post a message precisely like yours when I discovered I had
installed the RHEL3 RPM (versus RHEL4).

Hope your resolution is as easy as mine. You are, by the way, about as
slim as you can get away with on the memory.

        Subject: Nessus3: Won't allocate a pointer of size -32511 !

When trying to start Nessus3 with the "/opt/nessus/sbin/nessusd
-D" command or "service nessusd start", I recieve the following error:

        Dec 14 15:52:37 llnaext011 nessusd: [1652] Won't allocate a
pointer of size -32511 !
Dec 14 15:52:37 llnaext011 nessusd: nessusd startup failed

Google provided a link to Nessuslib where this error may be
derived from. It appears to be a memory problem. This host system is a
CentOS 4.2 PC with 256mb of RAM (108 used and 140 free, present time).

Anybody know how to resolve this?

        Jeff
