Nessus3: Won't allocate a pointer of size -32511 !

When trying to start Nessus3 with the "/opt/nessus/sbin/nessusd -D"
command or "service nessusd start", I recieve the following error:
 
Dec 14 15:52:37 llnaext011 nessusd: [1652] Won't allocate a pointer of
size -32511 !
Dec 14 15:52:37 llnaext011 nessusd: nessusd startup failed

Google provided a link to Nessuslib where this error may be derived
from. It appears to be a memory problem. This host system is a CentOS
4.2 PC with 256mb of RAM (108 used and 140 free, present time).
 
Anybody know how to resolve this?
