Dave,

The following links show the errors I am getting
http://mail.nessus.org/pipermail/nessus/2004-July/msg00251.html &
http://mail.nessus.org/pipermail/nessus/2005-March/msg00204.html

But, in a nut shell

1) - nessusd - does not start - gives long list of errors starting with
"undefined funtion 'can_host_php' and ending with "Segmentation fault"

2) - nessus-update-plugins- - gives the following error:
+ /usr/bin/wget -q -O - http://www.nessus.org/nasl/all-2.0.tar.gz
+ test -f all-2.0.tar.gz
+ cat all-2.0.tar.gz
+ /usr/local/bin/gzip -cd
+ test 127 = 0
+ mv all-2.0.tar.gz all-2.0.tar
+ cat all-2.0.tar
+ tar -xvf -
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
+ rm all-2.0.tar
+ test -f nessus_detect.nasl
+ echo 'Something went wrong when installing the plugins - uncompressing the
plugins archive failed'
Something went wrong when installing the plugins - uncompressing the plugins
archive failed
+ cd /root
+ rm -rf /tmp/nessus-update-plugins-6297
+ exit 1

THANKS for responding to my plea for help!

What errors are you getting?

now attemptting to install again.....

Nope, uninstall, reinstall, still getting same errors. Maybe uninstall did
not remove everything?
