I'm always a big fan of naming things after mythology. It resonates. Of course, Nessus was never a popular fellow in school, what with the poison and all. I was thinking another good name (keeping in the Centaur realm) would be Chiron. It is also a celestial body. I made that same connection between the Larry Niven Ringworld Puppeteer as well, but if this were the case, Nessus (the vulnerability assessment tool) would only have one checkbox '[X] Safe Checks Only' (all Puppeteers were cowards) Just a thought :) P.S. I give permission for my great naming ideas to be used on a closed source product !(tm) Mark Lachniet -----Original Message----- I had the idea of changing the name of Nessus 3 to something else expressed to me at the Interzone West conference this pass weekend. We had considered this, but since we were not charging money for it, we didn't want to go with a name change.
