Dear Renaud,
Dear all,
at this point I have to ask you all:
is it really needed to let Renaud do all the things concerning
creating binaries for all the platforms, all the distributions
and so on ?

In my eyes it is a waste of manpower.
Wouldn't it be better to spend the time for developing new features,
plugins and so on?

In answer to the special question: Agree that porting to multiplatform is that
building another Egyptian pyramid.

What I do is: I do scanning enterprise Navy net, use my NessusDBX database
extension to keep all scans to generate reports, compare scans, and compare
Nessus scans to other scanning or auditing SW reports/files.

(having some identical linux boxes)
-compiling nessus on a machine with compiler into a special empty directory
(e.g. /sectools/).
-find all the files, created within that dir.
-using EPM (http://www.easysw.com/epm/) to create an rpm package out of the
file list.
-install the rpm on the other machines without a compiler.

As it has already been mentionned on this list, we intend to make
binaries available in the near future. This requires work and an
extra step of QA. It also requires hardware and automation, so that
all platforms are treated equal.

In other words, it requires time and efforts, and complaining,
whining or moaning won't make it happen faster.
