Nessus 2.2.5 backout plan question

Subject: Nessus 2.2.5 backout plan question
Date: Tue, 23 Aug 2005 08:34:20 -0400
Hello,

On the weekend I plan on upgrading Nessus 2.2.3 to Nessus 2.2.5 on a
RHEL 3 machine and I need to have a viable backout plan. In that
regard, is there a way to have a slotted installed (i.e. keep Nessus
2.2.3 incase Nessus 2.2.5 does not run properly)? In not, if I install
Nessus 2.2.5, it doesn't work, can I reinstall Nessus 2.2.3 and expect
everything to run smoothly? Would tar'ing the nessus specific
directories under /usr/local/ and then untar'ing them work?

The reason I ask is that I have seen a few questions crop up in
regards to problems with compiling Nessus 2.2.5 and I had a similar
problem myself with the Error in plugin args. The machine is
considered a 'production' machine and cannot have downtime beyond a
certain point.

Thanks in advance,
Danesh
