I am having this same issue while running nessus 2.2.5 on SuSE 9.2 with the native nessus client. I input identical credentials in the duplicate SMB boxes on the Credentials Tab and the scanner continues to use alternative credentials for Windows athentication(administrator). Has there been a resolution or workaround?

After doing extensive testing, I've found that the duplicate GTK entries in the preferences tab (bug 1284) makes it so you cannot perform host-based scans using credentials.

I've tried putting the username and password into the SMB fields and nessus ignores these credentials. The scanned host's security logs show an account called nessus<long string of numbers> attempts to login.

This bug was reported after an upgrade to 2.2.5, but I have reproduced the same behavior on a clean install of SuSE Linux 9, so it doesn't appear to be upgrade related. However, my Nessuswx client was the same.

Is there any data that is held on the client that would cause the duplicates? I really need to get the host scans working again. We're in the middle of a POC of Nessus.

Thanks.
