I am able to replicate the crash if nessusd does not send any plugins. You should be able to see this (1) in the status window because it reports "0 plugins loaded" and (2) in the Protocol Tracer as there would be no plugins received from the server.
That you resolve the problem by copying everything from the system-wide to your own plugins folder suggests that nessusd is mis-configured. What does "nessusd -s | fgrep plugins_folder" report? If it's not /usr/local/lib/nessus/plugins, adjust the setting in nessusd.conf, restart the daemon, clear out /usr/local/var/nessus/users/adam/plugins and try running NessusWX again. Does the problem disappear?

"nessusd -s | fgrep plugins_folder" returns nothing.
"nessusd -s" returns: cert_file = /usr/local/com/nessus/CA/servercert.pem key_file = /usr/local/var/nessus/CA/serverkey.pem ca_file = /usr/local/com/nessus/CA/cacert.pem config_file = /usr/local/etc/nessus/nessusd.conf
suggestions?
