2.2.5 was released last Friday. Since you're installing from scratch, I'd recommend using that rather than 2.2.4.
I get following error and the installation aborts. configure: error: could not find OpenSSL an OpenSSL headers on your system
Make sure you have OpenSSL installed on your system. Also, if you use something like rpm to do this, you will likely need the development package too.
