2.1 of what? Not Nessus, I hope - that was an experimental release and
was superceded nearly a year ago by 2.2. 2.2.5 is current.

Do you have files matching hydra*.nasl in the plugins directory?
Provided you do, the lack of options related to Hydra in the client
typically occurs because Hydra can not be found in the PATH available
when nessusd starts.


To attempt to fix the problem, I downloaded the latest 2.2 version last
night from the nessus.org site and got the "package gtk+-2.0 not found
but will continue without GUI" message.  I tried to update GTK+ via RPM
and it has conflicts with other modules so I cannot install it at this
point.


You probably don't need to upgrade, just install the GTK+ *development*
package(s).
