Wonderfull. But you install a SOURCE rpm which requiress you to build the
binary packages.

When I perform an rpm -qa | grep openssl I get

libopenssl0.9.7-0.9.7e-5.1.102mdk
openssl-0.97e-5.1.102mdk

No development packages detected.

So either get the proper development packages (the binary ones!!!) or
build them yourselves.

rpmbuild --rebuild openssl-0.9.7e-5mdk.src.rpm

may do this for you.
