The nessus scan suggest I add the following into the
apache host containers:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^(TRACE|TRACK)
RewriteRule .* - [F]

In older versions of Apache, that worked OK, when I do
that with the new version (configured for Mandrake) none
of the webpages will operate. Does the new version of
Apace alreay address this problem by default or what is
the fix?

This is more of an Apache question so you might try
following up in an Apache forum. Still, you might verify the
changes you made, check whether your instance of Apache
supports mod_rewrite, make sure you actually started Apache,
and check Apache's error logs for errors.
