Greetings, new to the list here...
I've been through a bunch of the archive posts and googling and just
can't seem to get this going.
Just installed the latest Nessus from source on a fresh Solaris 9
install.
I've created the nessus-fetch.rc file with proper parameters, when I run
nessus-update-plugins I get:
bash-2.05# nessus-update-plugins
all-2.0.sig is not the valid signature for all-2.0.tar.gz
Aborting
The files are downloaded and I can see the in the /tmp directory.
After some research, I found someone's suggestion to register, so I
attempted that, with the following result:
bash-2.05# nessus-fetch --register <my reg number here>
could not connect to plugins.nessus.org - Transport endpoint is
not connected
I saw another post for testing nessus-fetch via:
nessus-fetch --url http://www.nessus.org/index.php out.txt
Which works just fine, so that makes me wonder why the nessus-fetch --
register command is not doing its job.
Also, when I registered, the confirmation email gave me the following
message:
If you wish to use your activation code with Nessus 2.0, edit
/usr/local/sbin/nessus-update-plugins and replace the following
three lines :
location="http://www.nessus.org/nasl/all-2.0.tar.gz"
location_md5="http://www.nessus.org/nasl/all-2.0.tar.gz.md5"
location_sig="http://www.nessus.org/nasl/all-2.0.sig"
by :
location="http://plugins.nessus.org/get.php?f=all-2.0.tar.gz&u=<long
number>"
location_md5="http://plugins.nessus.org/get.php?f=all-2.0.tar.gz.md5&u=<
long number>"
location_sig="http://plugins.nessus.org/get.php?f=all-2.0.sig&u=<long
number>"
I edited nessus-update-plugins, but the original three lines did not
exist. I inserted the "new" three lines at the top of the script, but
that also yielded no results. I've since removed those lines from the
script.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
